More than two-thirds of adults have access to banking and mobile money accounts, but 1.7B adults remain unbanked globally.  Out of 1.4B Google users, only 60.7M have a payment method on file.

That’s a $156B opportunity for Google, and priceless for those without access to digital payments. 

There are over 300+ alternative payment methods in the world (~10% supported on Google’s platform). Google offers 6 types of payment methods and Cash will be the 7th.

Enable our clients to monetize more easily through the payments platform by allowing anyone in the world to transact using their preferred payment method.

Opportunity

Introduce a cash based form of payment in select countries.  

By increasing user reach, we can enable more local forms of payment to drive purchases, and increase buy flow conversion rates by 90% through adding a form of payment (FOP).

Through testing with existing purchase experiences on mobile for YouTube and Play we were able to design a unique solution for Cash based purchases to be made digitally through a merchant in the store.
